I have to say that this book was an inspiration to me. It’s the kind of book that makes you look back on your own life and appreciate all that you have been given the opportunity to accomplish, even if it hasn’t always turned out the way you planned.
Louise: Amended is the story of Louise Krug, a college student from Kansas who has everything going for her. She has just graduated and landed a great job in California. She is on top of the world. Then, one day out of the blue she is out with Claude, her fancy French boyfriend whom she adores, and her foot goes numb. Completely numb. At first she thinks she just needs to “wake it up” but she is wrong.
It turns out Louise had suffered a brain bleed that affected the whole right side of her body. She is told that she will never be the way she was before and she may not be able to walk again.
Louise refuses to give up and fights with all she has to overcome this devastating trauma that is doing its best to make her life as complicated as possible.
This story is about love, loss and the fantastic ability to pick yourself up and move on even when the odds are against you. And it’s also the story of true loyalties and how when one member of a family struggles it affects everyone.
Louise Krug will be here at the library on Tuesday, August 7th, from 7-8:30 pm. Come by to hear her talk about this moving work and pick up your own signed copy available for sale by The Raven Bookstore. - Lynn, Reference
