Poem: Somebody Blew Up America by Amiri Baraka

Artist’s Statement: My piece is inspired by and composed of – Amiri Baraka’s poem “Some-body Blew Up America”. New Jersey Gov. Jim McGreevey – an obvious ‘go-to-guy’ in matters of art & taste – introduced a bill into Senate abolish-ing the post of NJ Poet Laureate because Amiri Baraka read this poem at a dinner party he attended. Amiri Baraka also read this (read ‘sang/rapped this’) poem on KU’s campus – it was awesome, treasonous poetry – presented here is his name & title as stand in for the twin towers.
