New Building News

Things are starting to take shape with the plans for your new public library! Lawrence City Commissioners recently reviewed the newest project renderings and heard about the anticipated construction schedule. Architects are busy developing final design plans and documents.  Here at the library, we are making plans to move into our temporary home – the former Borders building at 700 New Hampshire St.

Below is a list of some projected milestones for the project – please note that dates will most likely adjust as we move farther along the project.  To see the full list of project milestones presented to City Commission, click here.

October 2012

  • 700 New Hamsphire St. lease and remodeling begins.
  • Garage and Site Package out to bid.
  • Begin review of Percent for Art RFQs.

November 2012

  • City Commission approves bid for Garage and Site Package.
  • Garage construction begins.

December 2012

  • Library closes for approximately one to two weeks for move to 700 New Hampshire.
  • Library projected to open at 700 New Hampshire on or about December 17.
