Read Across Lawrence for Kids!

This September, the Lawrence Public Library will celebrate our second annual Read Across Lawrence for Kids! Read Across Lawrence for Kids is a fun and unique way for kids to “get on the same page” with other kids in the community by reading the same book at the same time, and then coming together to enjoy a variety of activities and events built around this shared adventure in reading.

Turtle in ParadiseThe book!

This year’s featured title is Turtle in Paradise by Jennifer L. Holm, a laugh-out-loud story full of surprise and history in the tropical setting of Key West. Free copies of the books will be available at the Read Across Lawrence for Kids Kick-off on August 31st @ 11:30-12:30 pm at Watson Park. More information regarding how to snag a copy can be found here.

The events!

Along with reading the book, the library has TONS of fun events planned throughout the month. Ice-cream making, comics, free movie matinee, hurricane science, a treasure hunt, and so much more. A full list of events can be found here. We will finish up the month with the spotlight event, the Read Across Lawrence for Kids Author Talk Finale. Meet the three-time Newbery Honor winning, New York Times bestselling author Jennifer Holm in a virtual author talk on the big screen in the Lawrence Arts Center auditorium!

And more!
