Phillip’s favorites

The following is a list of games that fall into three categories. First, they are all fairly new releases in prolific series in what most consider the video game canon. Second, they have all been received with near universal critical acclaim. And finally, they are all personal favorites of LPL staff member Philip who puts out these monthly recommendations for the Children’s Page. Each game in this list is rated E10+, so while they aren’t suitable for the youngest patrons in the Children’s area, they are perfect for those getting ready to make that jump to the Teen Zone in next couple of years. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, Wii. Every legend has an origins story, and if you check the Hyrule Hystoria, Skyward Sword is the origins of the Legend of Zelda series. The player becomes Link, the archetypical hero, as he adventures to save the land from the forces of evil. This game is considered by some (including this writer) to be a masterpiece.

Kingdom Hearts game

Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix, Playstation 3. The original Kingdom hearts is a classic game released in 2002. The story follows Sora as they adventure through various Disney inspired worlds. The series has the feel of the Final Fantasy series of RPGs; the same developer as that series developed this series. In the HD Remix, the original Kingdom Hearts adventure has been upgraded in look and style for a new generation of gamers to enjoy!

Rayman

Rayman Legends, Xbox 360. Rayman has been a staple of video game history for quite some time, and while most of his past games were good, none are considered as great as Rayman Legends. Players must adventure as Rayman to save the world from the nightmare that it has become. This game is considered to be one of the strongest platformers to come out in quite some time!
