Will book donations be accepted once again in the new building (after the bedbug scare), or is this still pending?

    • Jeni says:

The plan is yes! The Friends are currently in the process of hiring a new program manager who will help figure out all of the details. Once that plan is in place, we will let you know details!

  2. Peter says:

I thought today was the day but I was wrong ALMOST!

Why are you guys opening when there is still construction going on this is hazardous for the little ones and the older alike. Plus there is zero announcement of why you are shutting down Vermont tomorrow rerouting buses and adding more road blockage to this already construction ridden town.

      Hi Tom,
We hope you’ll understand we want to be able to provide resources to our community as soon as possible – after being closed for 2.5 weeks, we hope many patrons will enjoy access to the library. The construction crews are working tirelessly and cautiously to finish the areas around the building. Although there may still be work going on outside, the inside will be safe and the outside will have barriers to be sure it’s safe as well.
We are closing down the street to accommodate the large crowds we’re expecting – there’s so much excitement about the new library opening, and we wanted to be sure that our ribbon cutting crowd didn’t filter into a busy street. In addition, we’ll be hosting several outdoor events in celebration so that while some can enjoy the outdoor activities, as many people as possible can explore the new space. We understand it will be an inconvenience to drivers and the bus system will have to reroute, but since this is a rare occasion (we only open a library once every 42 years!), we hope you’ll understand.
Thanks for your feedback, and we hope to see you on Saturday.
