LEARN HOW TO RIDE THE LOCAL BUS at an informational meeting at 10:30am on Thursday, October 26 in Meeting Room B at the library. Riding the bus for the first time can be scary but going to needed appointments or getting groceries or other items can be a challenge if you don’t drive. Staff from the Lawrence Transit system will explain how the system can help you travel around town. They will explain how to find the proper route, read a bus schedule and even how you can use your phone, tablet or other device to know when the bus will be coming. The staff will demonstrate how to plan a trip using the transit system, read route maps and schedules, how to pay the fares and if or when transfers are necessary.
In addition to the general bus routes, the T-Lift paratransit option will also be explained. These services are available for those with special needs. The Senior Resource Center and Independence, Inc. will also provide information on their transportation options.
Now, riding the bus won’t be scary and you will find that riding the bus may open a new world of opportunities!
This program is presented by the Lawrence Transit System in conjunction with the Senior Resource Center of Douglas County and the Lawrence Public Library. For more information about this program, please contact Serena at the Lawrence Transit System 785-832-3407.
