Read Across Lawrence Book Night

Friday, August 30th @ 7pm on Mass Street

Look for us wandering up and down Mass Street, books in hand, during the Final Friday of August.  Pachamama’s, Frank’s North Star Tavern and Sandbar will be participating in The Worst Hard Time specials, so be sure to show your library tattoos or your book to cash in on the cheap drinks.

 

Memories of the Dust Bowl

Nerd Nite Lawrence

Library Gallery Exhibition Opening

A Night with Author Timothy Egan

Thursday, September 26th @ 7:30 pm at the Lied Center

Timothy Egan, author of the 2013-14 KU Common Book The Worst Hard Time, will present a keynote. This Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter and author will speak to his experience writing The Worst Hard Time, as well as take questions from the audience. A book signing will follow the event.

 

Film Church at Liberty Hall – The Grapes of Wrath

Sunday, September 29th @ 11:00 am at Liberty Hall

The quintessential Dust Bowl film, John Ford’s award winning Grapes of Wrath should be required viewing for all.  It’s not church, just a bunch of nerds who love film. We’re partnering with Liberty Hall to present the film.
