Health and Wellness revamp

Health happens in Lawrence Public Library! We offer a variety of reliable information, resources, events, and more to connect our community to health. Our online resources are available at computers within the library or remotely from any computer with a Kansas IP address. All other resources are available at the library.  If you need help using these materials or getting started with your research, stop by the Ask Desk, call 785-843-3833, email the reference staff, open a live chat session, or Book a Librarian.

Health At The Library

Health Spot: Located past nonfiction near the study rooms, the Health Spot at Lawrence Public Library is a partnership between Lawrence Memorial Hospital and LPL, serving as a location for the community to access health resources in Lawrence through databases, health events, free screenings, and toolkits on healthy lifestyles, and more.

Drop-In Services

  • Career Clinic: Staffed by experienced United Way Americorps members, the career clinic is here to help you with your employment search. They can help with resumes, filling out job applications, looking for a job, and more.
  • Health Marketplace Navigator: Free, expert assistance in enrolling for insurance, staffed by navigators from Heartland Community Health Center and Healthcare Access. Here each month year-round, and weekly during open enrollment.
  • SNAP/Double-Up Food Enrollment: SNAP and Double Up Food Bucks enrollment specialists are here the 2nd Thursdays of each month, to help you sign up for food programs and answer your questions about food resources in our community.
  • The Willow Library Branch: Trained advocates from Willow Domestic Violence Center are in-house for informal, confidential visits.
  • Yoga @ Your Library: A professional yoga instructor offers an all ages and skill levels class on the 2nd Wednesday of each month. Bring a mat and a willingness to learn.
  • Family Yoga @ Your Library: Bring your whole family to stretch together, relieve stress, laugh and play with a professional yoga instructor. All ages, skill levels, and please bring a mat.

  • Health Kits: Available for checkout, these kits contain books, DVD’s, activities, and free handouts about general information on specific health topics.
  • GYM Pass: Check out a free, 28-day full-access gym membership pass to one of three local gyms.
  • Events & Programs: Learn about our health-related programming and events on our web and print calendars, and through our Facebook and Twitter pages.
