Disability Services

Home Delivery

For patrons with physical disabilities or transportation limitations that prevent visits to the library, free door-to-door delivery can be arranged. Deliveries are made within the city limits of Lawrence twice a month by Kiwanis volunteers. Contact the Senior Outreach Coordinator, Pattie Johnston, at 785-843-3833 ext 115 to arrange for this service.

Large Print Collections

Whether you love mysteries, westerns, or biographies, we’ve got a great selection of non-fiction and fiction in  our large print collection (14+ point lettering).

Talking Books

Talking Books is a free library service available to those whose low vision, blindness, or physical handicap makes it difficult to read a standard printed page. Information and applications for the service may be picked up at the Reference and Information Desk or on the Book Van, or you may call 1-888-NLS-READ (toll free) and follow the prompts.

Audio-Reader

The Kansas Audio-Reader Network is a free reading and information service for blind, visually impaired, and print disabled individuals in Kansas and western Missouri.  Newspapers, magazines and best-selling books are read on the air and on the internet, 24 hours a day.  Applications for Audio-Reader service are available at the Reference and Information Desk or on the Book Van, or by calling 785-864-4600.
