POWERSEARCH

GRANT RESOURCES

Lawrence Public Library is now a member of the Foundation Center's Cooperating Collections Network. Nonprofit organizations and other grantseekers in the Douglas County area looking for funding sources can access 3 databases at all public computers at the Library. Note: these are available at Library computers only.

  • Foundation Directory Online Professional
    This database of over 80,000 grantmakers allows you to search for foundations and granting agencies and to find grant money for your organization or research project.

  • Foundation Grants to Individuals Online
    Geared toward individuals and small organizations seeking grant money, this database includes over 7700 foundations and public charity programs. You can read about specific grants, and learn how to increase your chances of success.

  • Philanthropy In/Sight
    An interactive mapping tool that creates maps to reveal patterns of foundation giving and funding relationships, both locally and worldwide. This database plots locations of grantmakers and recipients, and enables you to view aggregated grant data and to overlay that data with maps of demographic areas.

  • AccessScience (McGraw-Hill) - Continuously updated science information from over 5,000 researchers, supported by the McGraw-Hill Encyclopedia of Science and Technology. The Study Center offers learning resources including Advance Placement study guides for biology, chemistry, environmental science, and physics.
  • Chilton Auto Repair - Quick online access to repair, maintenance and service information on the most popular cars, trucks, vans and SUVs on the road today.
  • Gale Legal Forms - Legal Forms provides access to thousands of customizable state-specific legal forms. Legal subject areas include bankruptcy, bill of sale, contracts, divorce, employment, living wills, name change and much more.
  • Hobbies and Crafts Reference Center (Ebsco) - This database offers detailed "how to" instructions and creative ideas to meet the interests of virtually every hobby enthusiast.
  • LearningExpress Library offers practice tests, exercises, skill-building courses, and information you need to achieve the results you want - at school, at work, or in life.
  • LegalTrac (InfoTrac) - Law reviews, legal newspapers, bar association journals, international legal journals, plus law-related articles from business and general interest journals.
  • Mango Languages - Mango is an online language-learning system that can help you learn languages like Spanish, French, Japanese, Brazilian Portuguese, German, Mandarin Chinese, Greek, Italian, Russian and more.
  • Military and Intelligence Database (InfoTrac) - Journals that are related to military and intelligence topics.
  • Religion and Philosophy Database (InfoTrac) - Journals that are related to religion and philosophy.
  • Small Engine Repair Reference Center (Ebsco) - repair, maintenance and
    service information for small engines. Engine types include: ATVs, boat motors, generators, lawn mowers, motorcycles, personal water craft, snowmobiles, snow blowers, tractors, and more.

  • Barron's - Barron's is America's premire finacial magazine. Providing in-depth analysis and commentary on markets, and is updated daily.
  • Computer Database (InfoTrac) - Computer-related product introductions, news & reviews on hardware, software, electronics, engineering, communications & the application of technology.
  • Kansas City Star - Read today's full issue and browse past issues.
  • ReferenceUSA databases contain detailed information on more than 14 million U.S. businesses and 115 million households. Business listings can be searched by name, address, phone number, company name, industry, geography, and other special selections. Details on businesses include toll free and fax numbers, sales volume, number of employees, ticker symbols, and owner/executive names. The Custom Search feature allows user to create and download customized lists. The Lifestyles option is a useful marketing tool, offering 19 categories with subheadings to identify consumers based on their lifestyles, hobbies, and interests. Users may search specific geographic areas for potential customers who have interests in your products or services. Economic factors such as median home income and median home value can also be incorporated into the search. Accessible from your home or business with your Lawrence Public Library card.
