The following is a list of Senior related web sites of interest to Lawrence and Douglas County residents:

  • AARP
    Official site of AARP.
  • AARP in Kansas
    AARP in Kansas is a voice for the rights and interests of mature adults in Topeka, working closely with state lawmakers in drafting and sponsoring legislation, advocating at legislative and administrative hearings, and informing the membership of legislative activities throughout the state.
  • Aging Kansas
    Aging Kansas is a gateway for anyone seeking information about aging, seniors, services for seniors, legislation concerning aging or seniors, and advocacy for elders on the world wide web.
  • Audio-Reader
    The Kansas Audio-Reader Network is a reading and information service for blind, visually impaired, and print disabled individuals in Kansas and western Missouri. Services are offered free of charge to anyone in the Audio-Reader listening area who is unable to read normal printed material.
  • BenefitsCheckUp: a Service of the National Council on the Aging
    A 50-state (including the District of Columbia) online service to provide public benefit screening for older adults. Free, easy to use, and confidential.
  • Home Delivery Service
    The Library provides a home delivery service for those who have difficulty in coming to the Library.
  • KU: Center on Aging
    Conducts, sponsors and supports the development of educational, clinical, and research programs related to aging.
  • KU: The Endacott Society
    Membership consists of retired classified and unclassified staff of the University of Kansas. Links include the KURC Newsletter, a membership application form and info about the KURC listserv.
  • Jayhawk Area Agency on Aging
    Services provided include Jayhawk AAA, a calendar of events, the newsletter, telephone numbers, and an interactive page for requesting brochures, booklets, etc.
  • Elderweb
    One of the oldest and most comprehensive eldercare gateways on the World Wide Web.
  • Senior Net: Bringing Wisdom to the Information Age
    An online community for older adults as well as an educational organization that teaches seniors how to use computer technology. Good site on variety of topics of interest to persons 50 and older, includes recreation and leisure, health, financial, retirement and others.
  • ThirdAge
    Offers information on subjects such as sports, finance, travel, and health, technology, relationships, hobbies, and current news.
  • Social Security Online: the Official Website of the U.s. Social Security Administration
    Official Social Security Administration site.
  • Medicare: the Official U.S. Government Site for People with Medicare
    Official site of the Medicare program.
  • SHHH: the Nation's Voice for People with Hearing Loss
    Self Help for Hard of Hearing people; this group has a local chapter in Lawrence.
  • Savvy Senior
    A national information service devoted to older Americans and the families who support them
  • Senior Health Care: Helping Seniors to Age Successfully
    Good site on health issues.
  • Talking Book Service
    The mission of the Kansas Talking Book Service is to provide books and magazines in braille and recorded format and playback equipment to any Kansas citizen unable to use standard print because of a visual or physical impairment.
