Caddy Stacks All Ages Mini Golf is Back!

Friday–Sunday, Jan 26-28, bring your A-game and come putt-putt on our 18-hole, community-built golf course that winds throughout the library!

Caddy Stacks, the Library Foundation’s wildly popular fundraiser, is taking inspiration this year from Wonder, our Read Across Lawrence book by R.J. Palacio.

The course will feature the people, places, and things that make our community wonderful. Caddy Stacks happens only every 2 years — don’t miss it! All proceeds support community literacy programs at your library.

The library will close early at 6 PM on Friday, Jan 26.

MORE INFO: Visit www.caddystacks.com or contact Kathleen Morgan at kmorgan@lplks.org. Special thanks to Billy Pilgrim for designing this year’s invitations!

Storytime with Gary + Sunny!

Famed KSHB weatherman, Gary Lezak, makes a very special appearance at Storytime on Tuesday, Nov 15 from 10:30-11:15 AM in our Auditorium.

Joining him is Sunny the Weatherdog, Lezak’s loyal sidekick through all kinds of weather. Expect lots of pets and wags as Gary reads our featured Kansas Reads to Preschoolers Week pick, Bear Sees Colors by Karma Wilson, and then from his own book, It’s a Sunny Life.

Big thanks to Crown Automotive for making Gary and Sunny’s visit possible!

ABOUT THE BOOK | When the skies darken and the thunder rumbles, if you’re like most of us, you’re probably quick to grab the TV remote and check the weather. You want to know how bad the coming storm is going to be. Now, the most accurate and popular meteorologist in Kansas City Gary Lezak brings his meteorological expertise to a new medium-children’s literature. “It’s A Sunny Life!” is an adventure for rain or shine. It tells the story of Sunny the Weather Dog, as she becomes separated from Gary, and has to deal with the weather elements in a bonding adventure with her new pack members. Also included, after the beautiful and suspenseful children’s story ends, is a special section, “Sunny’s Weather Academy,” which provides fun answers to all sorts of weather-related questions. What are the different types of clouds and what does each mean? Why does the weather change so quickly sometimes? What is precipitation? And, of special interest to parents, in the event of severe weather, what should you and your family do to stay safe. This special section is being enjoyed by kids of all ages. (Source: Amazon)
