Pajamas and Lovies and Reading—Oh My!

We’re celebrating the importance of reading in the lives of young Kansans throughout the month of November with lots of fun at the library.

Sunday–Saturday, NOV 12–18, join us for storytime readings of The Napping House by Audrey Wood (the librarians will be wearing their snuggliest jammies—you should, too!) and enjoy the fresh air on our Downtown Storywalk©. We’re even hosting a stuffed animal sleepover right here at the library!

Kansas Reads to Preschoolers Week is an annual event that promotes reading to children under the age of five. Parents, teachers, and caregivers are encouraged to read The Napping House throughout November.

Hot dogs, and smoothies, and crepes, oh my!

On Thursday, May 25 from 7:30–11 PM on the Library Lawn, Downtown Lawrence Inc. and Lawrence Public Library invite you to eat some grub, listen to some music, and watch a movie. Grab dinner from local vendors at 7:30, settle in for some local music from the Beer Bellies, then at 9, we’ll push play!

We’ll watch Storks, eat popcorn, drink beer and sodas, and settle in for a lovely evening with friends and neighbors. See you there!

All-ages Monster Art Hunt

Villagers have captured Frankenstein’s monster and torn him to pieces, spreading his parts all over downtown!

It’s your job to put him back together again before he appears in the Lawrence Art Center’s production of Frankenstein.

From October 14–29, grab a scavenger hunt map at the Library Welcome Desk and hit the streets in search of the monster’s “body parts.”

Prizes include a coupon for $5 off a ticket to see Frankenstein, swim pass (for 5-18 year olds), and a chance to win tickets to Science City or the Gottlieb Planetarium at Union Station in KC!

Offered in partnership with the Lawrence Art Center
