In typical Nicholas Sparks’s fashion, Best of Me is a love story, but so much more. This is a story within a story with a twist. At times it was difficult to follow, but just as with so many other novels, it ties all together in the end.
This is the story of Dawson, a boy from the other side of the tracks who was in love with a girl when he was younger but they had parted ways years ago. This is the story of Amanda, the girl who was in love with Dawson years ago but was forced to end the relationship when her mother and father got involved and thought she could do better. Several years later Dawson and Amanda reconnect when they come back to their hometown to deal with the death of a close personal friend, Tuck. Little did they know that Tuck had a plan all along to attempt to bring them back together if at all possible.
The problem is Dawson has feelings for Amanda that he has carried with him since the day they ended their relationship. Amanda has feelings for Dawson too, but there is another problem…Amanda is married with kids.
Do Dawson and Amanda find a way to be together? Are they able to forget the past and look to the future? Or do things end tragically for one or both of them? Is there anything good that can come from lost love and heartbreak?

Have you ever picked up a book not having a clue what to expect?
I have to say that I have a tendency to pick up books like this all the time…
As a librarian, I try very hard to not judge a book by its cover, but in this case, Caught by Harlan Coben drew me in by its cover. It’s just a simple cover with a red door to a home on it. That’s it. I opened the book, read the first few pages, and I was hooked.
This story is a complex one with many prominent characters. These characters all bring their own excitement to the mystery of the novel. As you read through it, you really have to pay attention to each detail or you will get lost in all the chaos that is going on in the book. First there is Dan who gets himself in trouble, big trouble… there is Wendy and there is Marcia, a mother who is deeply saddened that her daughter is missing…and nobody, not even the police detectives have a clue as to what has happened to her. Will see be found? Will she be found alive…?
This novel flows very quickly and there are twists and turns everywhere. If you are looking for a fast-paced read this one is for you. Before you know it, you will get caught up in the action and you will hate to see this one end. – Lynn Koenig, Adult Services

If you are in the mood for a good emotional story you should pick up something written by Nicholas Sparks. He is the author of such bestsellers as The Notebook, A Walk To Remember, The Lucky One and A Bend in the Road, just to name a few.
One of my favorite books, which he wrote in 2010, is Safe Haven. It’s the story of Katie, a young woman who relocates to a small town in North Carolina to do all she can to start over with her life.
For those of you who have read books by Sparks before, this one is completely different. The story takes you through the ups and downs of what Katie is feeling as she tries to forget the past and reinvent herself in a positive way. As she focuses on what she wants her future to be, she is careful to not let her guard down after everything that she has gone through. Then she meets Alex and as they get to know each other she begins to trust him. It is at that point that things begin to change for her.
This particular story will keep you guessing to the last page. I would say that Nicholas Sparks put quite a bit of mystery into this novel… and it does not end the way that you think it would. It has many twists that you just don’t expect. - Lynn Koenig, Reference

I have to say that this book was an inspiration to me. It’s the kind of book that makes you look back on your own life and appreciate all that you have been given the opportunity to accomplish, even if it hasn’t always turned out the way you planned.
Louise: Amended is the story of Louise Krug, a college student from Kansas who has everything going for her. She has just graduated and landed a great job in California. She is on top of the world.
